Setting it up for a parent
- Install DoseBeacon on their iPhone or iPad and choose “Help someone else”.
- Add each medicine by copying the pharmacy label, or scan it and check every field.
- Allow notifications when asked, then check Focus settings so reminders can come through.
- Add a helper's phone number for the I NEED HELP button.
- Switch to Senior Mode and hand the phone back.
MedlinePlus advises keeping a list of all medicines and reviewing it with providers and pharmacists. DoseBeacon keeps that list, and its emergency card, on the phone and printable.

What is the best pill reminder for seniors?
Look for large readable text, very few buttons, reminders that work without internet, clear wording instead of symbols, and no ads or upgrade prompts. DoseBeacon's Senior Mode is designed around those points, but the best choice is the one the person finds easy. Try it together.
Can my parent use DoseBeacon without a smartphone background?
Senior Mode shows one medicine card with four large buttons, so most people can learn it in a minute. A family member can do the setup in Caregiver Mode and hand the phone back in Senior Mode.
Does DoseBeacon work on iPad?
Yes. DoseBeacon runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. A larger iPad screen can be easier to read.
What happens if my parent forgets to tap anything?
The dose stays “Not confirmed yet”. DoseBeacon doesn't call it missed, because it may simply not have been recorded. If someone is unsure what to do about a forgotten dose, check the medicine's leaflet or ask a pharmacist.
Are notifications guaranteed?
No app can guarantee that. Reminders depend on the phone's notification settings, Focus modes, battery and whether the phone is on. DoseBeacon explains how to check these settings.
