Reminders & Senior Mode
Offline reminders
Scheduled on the device for daily times and chosen weekdays, rebuilt after edits, time-zone changes and app updates. One notification per time slot, so they don't pile up.
Senior Mode
One large card at a time with LOG AS TAKEN, LATER, NOT SURE and I NEED HELP. Read-aloud, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver labels and Reduced Motion support.
Private notifications
Medicine names are hidden on the lock screen unless you choose to show them.
Honest records
Append-only history
Every report keeps its type, author, device, original time and when it was shared. Undo and corrections add records; nothing is silently overwritten.
Clear dose states
Scheduled, not confirmed yet, reported taken, reported given, later, skipped, not sure, handling this, unable to confirm, needs follow-up and needs review.
Beacon Glow
A calm light that grows with every honest record, including “Not sure” and asking for help. It never shrinks, has no streaks, and never rewards taking more.
Family coordination
Care Circle sharing
Approved devices share reports through DoseBeacon's server when online. Each screen shows its last update and warns when data may be out of date.
Roles & approvals
Owner, manager, helper and viewer, all enforced by the server. Join by request, approve or deny, revoke any device.
Dose Handshake
“I'm handling this”, “Dose given”, “Unable to confirm” and “Needs follow-up”. A claim is never displayed as administration.
Organization
Label scanning with review
On-device text recognition drafts the name, strength and instructions. You check every field; nothing becomes a reminder until you confirm it.
Refill Center
Supply on hand, refill dates and labelled estimates. It subtracts one per reported dose. No pharmacy connection, no automatic orders.
Reports & emergency card
7/30/90-day PDF including not-sure, skipped and not-confirmed entries, plus a printable emergency card with a last-reviewed date.
Feature FAQ
Does label scanning read prescriptions accurately?
It uses Apple's on-device text recognition to make a draft. It can misread text, so every field is shown for you to check and correct, and nothing activates until you confirm. If it can't read something, it leaves the field empty rather than guessing.
Does DoseBeacon check for drug interactions?
No. DoseBeacon doesn't assess interactions, doses or conditions. Ask a pharmacist to review your medicines together.
Is anything uploaded when I use DoseBeacon alone?
No. Without a Care Circle, your medicines and history stay on your device. Sharing only starts when you create or join a circle.
